Dear Future Manasi
The year is 2018, you’ve had a good one so far and you’ve come a long way. You made the decision to move to a new place even when you didn’t want to and yes, it hurt but you did it, you graduated high school when you didn’t think you would, AND you’re in college now, you’ve been here for a little over a month and it’s been okay so far, you’re worrying about things that probably won’t matter as much in the future but because you are who you are, it’s normal for you to overthink things, it’s okay though. Are you scared or worried about what the future holds for you? Awesome !!, you should be because you don’t know what’s going to happen. Life could be very different two minutes from now or it could be the same, who knows? Here are a few things to remember
1- Don’t worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)
2- Have fun, you only get to do this once
3- Travel, because the world is a big, beautiful place and you definitely want to see what it has to offer
4- Study hard, because this is what you are here for
and finally,
5- You will find someone who loves you more than anything in their life, you will be the best thing that ever happened to them, you may have to wait for the right person but when they come along, everything you’ve ever wanted will be right in front of you and it’ll be worth it
You have waited your whole life to be an adult, ENJOY. ALL. OF. IT. You will have enough time to do everything you love so don’t stress about it so much. You will miss the beauty if you’re stressed, so take a breath and calm down. Be here now. Call your parents. Ask someone how they’re doing and actually listen to what they have to say. The inexplicable feeling of a true connection and understanding is the best feeling in the world. You’re not going to live forever so be sure to cherish every moment and all the wonderful things that life has to offer. Right now, at the age of 18, your life is a giant crossroad, it can be exciting and frustrating, but know that it’s temporary. You’re going to figure things out, just like you always do, you’re going to freak out but you’re going to do it. Everything happens for a reason. Remember how you got a rejection letter from a university you really wanted to go to? Know why that happened? Because you were meant to be HERE, everything that has happened in your life till now has led up to this moment, and this moment will make way for even bigger and better things. Sometimes, things that you’re not prepared for will happen to you, you won’t have the time to plan it, you just have to go with the flow, take it as a learning experience, and carry on with your head held high. Have faith. When you look back at this letter, it could be tomorrow when you’ve had a good night’s sleep, or ten years from now when you have a family of your own, I hope that you’re happy and healthy, I hope you’re learning new things, and I sure do hope that you’re more mature than you are at this moment. Don’t overthink things because when you think about something too much, your mind wanders and it makes the problem even bigger than it is because you keep imagining things. Life is going to throw major curveballs at you, DON’T RUN AWAY!! FACE THEM HEAD ON AND SHOW LIFE WHO’S BOSS!!! Work hard, be who you are meant to be and NEVER stop loving yourself. This letter will be mailed to you on your birthday in 3 years (2021)
Sincerely,
Me (Manasi)
