A letter from March 19th, 2020

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, The day is Thursday, 19th of March 2020. The government was very late with reporting the new number of covid-19 cases & deaths today. Right now we are sitting at 3229 confirmed cases, and 144 dead. Italy has surpassed China's number of mortalities, registering a total of 3405 deaths (China currently has 3245), making Italy the new highest mortality rate due to covid-19 in the world. The coronavirus regulations have been published, but have not been voted on in parliament yet. This is supposed to happen on Monday now. If it gets passed, which I expect it will - and it needs to - I still believe we are due for a lockdown by the end of next week, once they have the legal power to do so. I spoke to Nina last night. We had our rent due today, and needed to discuss whether we were going to hand our notice in at the same time as we need to give 30 days notice. She seems pretty set right now on not wanting to move into another property with me. That absolutely devastates me. I am hoping more time apart will fix this, but I really don't know. I also messaged her parents, apologising for failing my duties as her partner. Her dad gave me a brief reply, and her mum did not say anything. As the days go on, it is getting easier to deal with, however I am still holding strong that this isn't the end of us. I am going to be talking to her again at the weekend to see if the situation has improved at all. I have been trying to make fundamental changes to myself, such as meditating and excersising more, I've quit my shit job and accepted an offer for a far better one. I truely hope this helps show her I really am taking this seriously. If it doesn't work, at least the self-improvement will still be useful in the future. Enough ranting for tonight, lets see what tomorrow brings.
