Dear Future Me,
The year is 2020 and we're currently in April. Spring just started, yesterday was my brother's birthday and it's been 25 days since we are in official Quarantine. This seems surreal in many different levels. People are forced to stay at home alone or only with their close relatives, nobody can't travel (or at least are adviced not to) and most of us are already texting our ex's because if the world was going to end... well, I guess we don't want to leave any loose ends. In all seriousness, nobody pictured that something like this could happen in real life. It really seems like a movie, not sure what genre though... The global situation is clearly alarming because the virus is affecting not only some people's physical health but I'm sure it's taking a toll on everyone's mental health in a different way. We're not supposed to go out unless we need to do the groceries, walk our dogs or take some fresh aire but we can't hang out with our friends and we shouldn't be around the elderly because the first group might be the most contagious and the last is the most vulnerable. I know this situation can't be compared to a war or a famine because luckily enough -at least for me and most of my friends- we have a home, food and entertainment enough to stay inside without complaining about it. I believe that my generation is having their 20's crisis all along with this global crisis and it's actually good on one side because it's a great excuse to justify our "fear and confusion for the future". If we were once called YOLO geneartion, I can't wait to see what we'll do once this is over because in all honesty it has really challenged our view on how fragile and fleeting life is. I can only wait to go outside and change my habits in order to have a better world but also free my spirit in hopes that every day from now on is fully live and fully enjoyed. For the Generation Z who are most of the teenagers of today, I can predict that situation has given them a strong lesson about social media... that it isn't the most important way of connection but it is of course a strong one. In all honesty, I just hope that we get one more year of peace so soon enough I can be reading this thinking I was being "overdramatic" and not the opposite. At last, I just want to thank God for taking care of us amidst all this chaos and for calming up my inner storms through these -somehow- trying times.
With all my heart, Fer
