Dear FutureMe,
First off, you're fucking old. You thought 21 was bad? You're now, what? Thirty, thirty-one? I'd estimate correctly if it weren't for the fact that it's 2:21 a.m., and your best friend is sitting on the couch on your mom's computer. You remember who your best friend at (almost) 21 was, right? Katy Steed. Ah, yeah, I bet that rang a bell. Are you still friends with her? I hope you are, she's one of the best people in this entire world, so I figure.
I'm not sure how else to go about this, so I'll put it bluntly: ARE YOU DEAD? 'Cause if you are that REALLY sucks. I know how you wanted a family and children yet you always used to pretend you didn't. In reality, I hope you're married, done with college, have your Masters and are enjoying life with a little bundle of joy on the way. That's my goal, my lifetime wish for you. I also hope you're hot as hell and lost all that weight. There's a lot of things I hope for Futureme, things that aren't too impossible, and I sincerely hope you get to enjoy them.
I wonder if you're an awesome criminologist or living in a crime TV show like Criminal Minds, profiling criminals, catching bad guys, living life on the edge. Maybe you're making money, and your husband is a cutting-edge scientist or doctor. I want you to have a boy and a girl and respectfully honor your brother's memory by giving your son his name as your son's middle.
I'm not even sure this e-mail address is still valid, but I'll try my hardest to keep it active. I would continue talking about how my life is right now, but it's not that great. You can't find a part-time job you love and all you really want to do is go back to school. I sincerely hope that happens. Oh, and about family, how are your nieces? Are they beautiful? Who am I kidding, of course they are! Breanna's 23, HOLY CRAP, Olivia's 21, and Ella's 14. They're so old, time is just flying by I'm sure.
I know they say to savor the moments you are young, and I really want to do that, but I'm ready for my life to start. I want the job, the husband, the marriage, the cute, quaint house, the kids, I want it all, and I want it right now. You're probably reading this and scoffing at how ridiculous this sounds and how if you'd known what you know now then, I wouldn't have written that. Lucky for me, us, whatever, I don't. Just please, please, please, tell me you're at least considering marriage soon... by this point.
I've got to go now, I think. I'll write more letters if I think of more things. I hope your life is as perfect as it can be. Most importantly, I hope this letter finds everyone in good health, including you, and I hope you're happy wherever you are in life. I love you, always remember that. Oh, and give everyone a huge hug and kiss for 21 year-old me. (:
XOXO Caitlin
