Dear Future Me,
Wow. I can't believe you're 32!! That puts you in...what, 2020??? It seems so unreal. So far off...but this letter will come to you and it will seem like yesterday that you sat at your desk and wrote it.
Don't forget about this time in your life. Right now I am 22 years old, working in an office, and not sure where my life is headed. I think about where you are...and I don't even know where that is! Maybe you're famous. Maybe you're a mom. Maybe you're married. Maybe not. Maybe you worked for Disney and maybe you found another dream. Maybe you finally lost that 30 pounds I"m starting to lose his year.
Maybe you're in love.
I think about when I was little, and how I started dreaming of that perfect guy. As I grow older, I find that more and more people laugh at me, and find my dreams silly and naive. And yet I still dream about that guy who makes me laugh. Who thinks I'm the world's best cook. Who doesn't try to get me drunk. Who cares about me more than he cares about himself. Who goes dancing with me even if he doesn't like it. Who encourages me to sing and to paint. Who talks in weird accents with me all night just because it's hilarious. Who truly believes that I can accomplish anything. Who will let me take a nap on his chest even when I'm not sleepy. Who gives me his sweatshirt even if it makes him cold. Who will sit and have nerdy intelligent conversations because we're both smart. Who isn't afraid to kiss me in public. Who will hold my hand, not because I ask him to, but because he wants to. Who will have inside jokes that only I know. Will know me better than I know myself. Who will think my pouty face is cute. Who will actively push me to be the very best I can be. Who will push me to be closer to God, and who will make me a better person. Who will watch Disney movies with me on a saturday morning eating big bowls of cereal in our pajamas. Who will be excited about holidays! Who will buy me flowers. Who knows how to fix stuff. Who loves me unconditionally.
Maybe you've found someone like that. Maybe you know God has brought you and this man together...or maybe you haven't found him yet. Just...don't settle for someone just because he's there. Don't give up! And most importantly, trust that God will bring that someone along when His timing is right. And if He's already brought him to you? Don't take him for granted. Go tell him you love him right now. Back? Good. I can't wait to see what God has planned for you! Don't give up hope!!!
Love,
22 year old Becca :)
PS. Also? What the heck is Disneyland like these days???!?!?!
