LETTER TO MYSELF from May 27th, 2013

Dear FutureMe, I am writing to me from me after waking up 21 yesterday morning. You will be waking up 30 today, that is if some tragedy hasn't befallen you. I hope that when you open this letter you won't just be waking up 30 but that you will be waking up wiser. Wiser, stronger and happier. I hope that you are settled and that you are comfortable with you we are. I am scared FutureMe... I am scared that we will open this letter and think what a waste the past 9 years have been or that we will be no farther ahead. I am afraid that we will have regrets and I am going to do everything in my power not to let that happen. I want to see the world. I want to steal a piece of the great wall of China and snowboard in Dubai, and Kiss under the Eiffel Tower. Have you done those things yet? Is a slow grin creeping up across your face as you think back fondly on those memories as you are reading this and how amazing it all was or laughing at how horribly wrong but hilarious it all turned out? I'm happy either way, just so long as you've done it. Life is messy FutureMe. Right now I am still trying to figure it all out and I don't have the answers but I am along for the ride. My heart has been broken and I hope that whatever place you are in, you are loved and have learned and taken whatever lesson PresentMe can give you. Right now my quotable journal is " Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain" by Vivian Green but I have a different quote for you that I found today; " Life is a grindstone, whether it grinds us down or polishes us depends on us"- by Thomas L. Holdcraft I know that you had a rough start for the first 14 years of our life, but that was a long time ago by now and I hope that you have put everything that happened in our childhood behind us. Just because you were not loved then does not mean you are not deserving of love. Don't be a victim. Everything that happened was out of our control but what we do everyday moving forward is within our power to create our reality. Don't be afraid to let people into your heart, and don't let what happened to us define us. You are strong. My last advice is to go out there and do something crazy today. You have my permission to BE BAD today. Remember when you had to most accomplished goals on my50.com in all of Canada? Remember when you met the Killers and got a giant goofy bear hug from Ronnie? Remember when you got your nipple pierced when you were 16 or drank a Flaming Lamborghini when you were 20? Don't ever forget these things. Make every moment count. Experience it all; EVERYTHING. Right now our favourite song is Battle Born by the Killers, so I will leave you with the lyrics below: "Up against the wall, there's something dying on the street, When they knock you down, you gotta get back on your feet (When you can't stop now) Did they break your heart?
