Dear FutureMe,
Tonight you found out a very nice and pretty girl named "K" that you met in Boston at an a cappella invitational had started dating someone. Granted you knew that things would have never worked out because of the distance you still had a crush on her but that didn't matter because you liked the feeling of liking someone else and having some of that warmth sent back your way. It's a cold realization when you found out how lonely one can possibly be.
This e-mail will be sent to you on your 30th birthday and I really do hope that you have accomplished all that you have set out to do thus far in life. Don't be dragging your feet and be courageous. Time is fleeting and although the idea of death sometimes scares you, don't let it deter you from doing the things you want to do. Live your life.
Right now, you, your past self from 8 years prior, feels so lonely. The scene you can't stop thinking about is from How I Met Your Mother, Season 8, episode 20, at 18:08. You hate being alone. Hate it. But it's made you realize how amazing love can be. You can not and will not settle for anything less than what you know you deserve. Hopefully by now, you are either happily married or in a loving relationship. If not, that's okay because there's still time. But right now, the fact that it seems so easy for everyone around you is driving you insane. But you will feel that someday. And you will appreciate it. So much. And you will never ever take it for granted. Ever. The woman you commit your life to will be your one and only and you two have been waiting so much of your life just to meet each other and when you two are together, special things happen and life just seems, well, brighter. You two will fight but you, David, will continue to be patient and rational. You will talk things out because although fighting can be stressful, getting through it will make your relationship stronger. Love this woman with all your heart and don't look back. You two have our entire lives with each other and you'll be joined by kids and amazing memories. And if you haven't found her yet, be patient, still, no matter what. Love will find you and GOD always provides.
You are thirty. 30. The big 3-0 and that's scary but never forget who you are. Don't constantly try and meet other's expectations but live your own life. You will be happy as long as you are comfortable with yourself and have finally set your own standards for yourself. I hope you have continued to work on the bucket list we've assembled and are pretty much 70% a secret agent. Hahaha We're so funny.
Anyways, I hope this site doesn't shut down and this e-mail finds you. Take care and see you soon.
Yours truly,
David
