Dear FutureMe,
Well future self, I see that somewhere between you and me, you’ve figured it out. I am thankful that you’ve taken care of yourself and figured out what was right. the powerful thing you are showing is what is possible with our life.
You’ve never been defined by your problems, or any situation that you’ve found yourself in. These days you’ve been riding the waves of life with such ease; I hope you’ve continued to do so. I know life is a moment-by-moment web of intricate experiences and reactions that helped me shape you.
You’ve seen me struggle, you’ve watched me have my momentary outburst and cry out of rage; but you’ve seen that I’m ok. I haven’t let my pain; my struggles and my issues get in the way of how I’m defined. You see that I make it through the rough patches and you know that I’ve always only ever come out stronger, smarter and more self-aware than I’ve ever been before.
I’ve seen you smile with gratitude for all the lessons you’ve been in. the gut wrenching, painful moments of extreme self hate, followed by harsh judgments of condescending words; but your proud to have them apart of your past. I hope you’ve made it through and have nothing but positive and loving thoughts on yourself.
I had chosen to work hard and dedicate myself into becoming you. You smile because you know and see that I got it, that the decisions I made today would affect you in the way you live, feel and act; it will decide what you job you wake up too, it will decide your future partner, it pretty much sums up your whole life.
Being a 16 year old girl who is finishing year 10, a Young Consultant for CREATE Foundation, an ambassador for AbSec, volunteer leader and ambassador for Camp To Belong and working at good old McDonalds; I hope you found the time to be yourself, to be creative in the way you wanted to be, to be the person you wish to be.
Growing up was tough for us, seeing things you wish you could unsee, going through emotions you wish you didn’t have to feel; but its all a good thing right? I mean look how far you’ve come.
I hope you still have strong contacts with Mel and Nick, I mean they were the two most important people in your adolescents life.
I hope you got over you emotions of the teenage love boys. The ones that you would only allow yourself to see as good people.
I hope for your 18th birthday you went on that cruise you wanted to go on. I hope you spoiled yourself like you said you would.
I hope for our sake you’ve done nothing but smile.
I hope you’ve felt nothing than pure happiness.
I hope you are where you want to be.
