Time Travelled — almost 4 years

November 9th, 2016 - The day america wept for our future

Peaceful right?

Today is a day. Today is my last day of school. Today is a day I have been looking forward to for over 3 years. Today I have all the knowledge in my little head so that tomorrow I can take a test that I have been preparing so hard for. Today I am living a reality that I have had an actual nightmare about , today is the day after the 2016 presidential election. And last night the people of the United States elected Donald J. Trump to be the leader of the free world. He won the electoral college, but not the popular vote and that is the only solace in this, however small, that not all of America is full of hate. This election has been incredibly difficult emotionally and all leading to today. I have never had this feeling before, it's a hollow knot in my stomach and is full of so many things but empty at the same time. I am angry, I am shocked, I am pretty disgusted, but above all I am afraid. I am afraid of what the world will look like when I receive this letter 4 years from now. Will we still have the internet? Will we still be free? Will everything be fine? Will we all be shocked and everything will be better? The only phrase that keeps scrolling through my head is "God I hope you are all right about this" and i mean the people that thought this was a good idea. So what does today look like? Are we at war? Will I ever get this letter? These are real questions, coming from a place of deep fear. I am a gay woman, will I have the same rights I do today? I keep waiting for Donald to say like "just kidding, I cannot believe you guys actually bought that" But maybe it won't be so direct and though policies or something there will be a gotcha. Or maybe none of this actually matters one way or another. Hillary, Donald, Jill, Gary, wouldn't have made a difference. I just hope the world isn't on fire when I read this next. And I hope I pass my test tomorrow and am happy despite whatever turmoil is occurring in the world. So until next time, please be safe out there, the world is more dangerous than you thought. And may the odds be ever in your favor. Ha.
