A letter from October 12th, 2017

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Today you are having a tough day. Your morning sucked, you argued with your mom, and your friend didn't invite you somewhere. You also had a tough week. Yesterday, you put yourself out there and hoped that he would text you back. It didn't happen. Maybe he is busy, maybe he doesn't like you, or maybe his phone broke. It doesn't matter. It's okay to have tough days my friend. It's funny because in writing this, I don't feel bitter and anxious. I feel sympathetic for myself because sometimes writing a letter to yourself is like writing a letter to a good friend. You are a very strong person. You really are. You matter so much, and you have taken a few hits recently but you'll figure out. We always do. You know all this. You are future me: stronger, better, wiser. Here is what I am asking of future you (me?). I need you to continue to do well. I need you to put yourself first. Past me and current me have trouble with that. We want so badly to be liked that we often sacrifice what truly makes us...us. If you are still doing that with guys, let me remind you to stop. I want someone that makes me comfortable, makes me feel loved, and makes me feel appreciated. The problem I have right now is that he doesn't do that for me. He makes me wait and feel like he doesn't like me. Guuurl we don't need more people like that in our lives. Anyways, the truth is that it's not all about guys. It's about you and me. It's about our future and consistently pushing to do better and make smart decisions. I know that you know good and well that past us has been sketchy at times. However, we forgive her for all her mistakes. She did the best she could with the knowledge she knew. Lets move in to 2018 making good decisions. If you are even thinking about taking a bad one into the new year, stop it right now. It takes 30 days to create a habit, and I won't be mad at you if you start making a change right now. Good luck future me! I think that 2018 will be good to us.
